My Approach
Building your intercultural capacity is developmental, meaning everyone can do it, but it require experience, education, and empathy. As a professional adult educator, I can help you maximize your effort and learn how to to achieve your goals.
embodied Learning
Explore how you and others make meaning in familiar and unfamiliar contexts, both intellectually and somatically.
Bridging
Integrate mindfulness and vision to recognize when and how to respond in contexts that challenge us by shifting perspective, attuning emotions, and adapting behavior in effective, inclusive, and authentic ways.
Hi, I’m Brittney Peake.
I am an adult educator, interculturalist, and life-long learner. I am passionate about helping people grow their ability to communicate and act appropriately, effectively, and authentically across differences, which is also called intercultural capacity.
I began learning about intercultural communication in graduate school and afterwards sought training focused on capacity building, especially as it relates to facilitating intercultural learning. I’ve been teaching for more than 14 years at the university level and began offering workshops and consulting along the way. I also am qualified to administer and interpret the Intercultural Development Inventory and often use this as a tool to help people assess their current needs and goals and later to measure growth.
On a personal note, I was raised in Portland, Oregon in a multicultural family. I lived abroad as a teenager and have partnered and raise children with someone who grew up on the other side of the world. Developing my own intercultural capacity has helped me live more intentionally and strengthen my relationships.
